About Us
Feed The City
Feed the City began in 1997 with eight families, with a request from local food bank clients to get a basket of food with specific items for a Thanksgiving meal. That year we gave out about a dozen baskets and each year it has significantly grown. Since its humble beginnings in 1997, Feed the City has fed more than 110,000 people to over 27 counties in the middle Georgia since then. Our previous events have resulted in 2,000 turkeys and 5,000 bags of food donated to feed those who have a lack of resources for daily nutrition. In addition to those that physically attended our event, we were able to make special deliveries of a Thanksgiving meal to homes of those who’s had a need but could not attend in person. That day, they opened their door to a blessing!
The heartbeat of Feed the City is for families in our community, to have a Thanksgiving meal to share with their family. Our partners such as local churches, schools, businesses and community organizations assist by collecting items for the meal and distributing them to the community the Saturday before Thanksgiving. This yearly commitment has continued the vision of Bishop Poole to ensure everyone in need has a Thanksgiving meal for the holidays.
